ASA/PMMA Blend
Co-extruded material combining ASA weather resistance with PMMA gloss and clarity
About ASA/PMMA
ASA/PMMA is a co-extruded or blended material system that combines the outstanding weatherability of ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) with the superior surface gloss and optical clarity of PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate / Acrylic). The result is a material that delivers the best of both worlds: the UV and weather resistance of ASA as the structural substrate, capped with a PMMA layer that provides a brilliant, high-gloss, scratch-resistant surface finish.
In co-extrusion configurations, the PMMA cap layer (typically 10–20% of total thickness) provides the optical and surface qualities while the ASA core delivers impact resistance, dimensional stability, and long-term outdoor durability. This construction eliminates the need for painting or coating, reducing production costs and environmental impact.
ASA/PMMA is widely used in automotive exterior components, building products, and recreational vehicle panels where a durable, high-gloss, paint-free surface is required. The material retains its gloss and color without chalking, fading, or surface cracking — even after years of outdoor exposure.
ASA/PMMA Grade Types
Co-Extruded Sheet (ASA/PMMA)
Multilayer sheet with PMMA cap over ASA substrate. Provides a high-gloss, scratch-resistant surface for thermoforming applications such as RV panels, spa covers, and signage.
Single-Layer Blended Pellets
Melt-blended ASA/PMMA compounds processed as a single material. Offers simplified processing for injection molding with improved surface aesthetics over standard ASA.
High-Gloss Injection Molding Grades
Optimized for automotive exterior trim, mirror housings, and decorative panels requiring a piano-black or deep-color finish without painting.
UV-Stabilized Outdoor Grades
Enhanced UV stabilizer packages for extreme outdoor exposure in roofing, cladding, and glazing applications. Tested to long-term weathering standards.
Low-Gloss / Matte Grades
Textured surface finishes for products requiring reduced glare or a soft-touch appearance, such as automotive interior trims and consumer outdoor products.
Flame Retardant Grades
FR-rated ASA/PMMA formulations for outdoor electrical enclosures and building products requiring both surface performance and fire safety compliance.
