About Polypropylene

Polypropylene (PP) is one of the most widely used thermoplastics in the world, valued for its excellent balance of stiffness, chemical resistance, and processability. It is a semi-crystalline polymer produced by the polymerization of propylene monomers, available in a range of grades including homopolymer, random copolymer, and impact copolymer.

Homopolymer PP offers high stiffness and excellent chemical resistance, making it ideal for rigid packaging, housewares, and medical components. Random Copolymer PP provides improved clarity and lower stiffness, commonly used in food containers, films, and medical packaging. Impact Copolymer PP (also known as heterophasic copolymer) delivers superior toughness at low temperatures and is widely specified for automotive parts, appliances, and consumer products.

PP is also available in a broad range of specialty compounds including glass-filled, mineral-filled, talc-filled, UV-stabilized, flame-retardant, and long glass fiber grades. These engineered compounds expand PP's performance envelope into demanding structural and thermal applications across automotive, industrial, and medical markets.

PP Grade Types

Homopolymer (HPP)

Highest stiffness, excellent chemical resistance. Used in packaging, housewares, and industrial applications.

Random Copolymer (RCP)

Improved clarity and flexibility vs. homopolymer. Ideal for clear packaging, films, and medical containers.

Impact Copolymer (ICP)

Superior impact resistance, especially at low temperatures. Widely used in automotive, appliances, and consumer goods.

Glass-Filled PP

Enhanced stiffness and dimensional stability. Used in under-hood automotive parts and structural components.

Talc & Mineral-Filled PP

Improved rigidity and surface appearance. Common in automotive interior panels and appliance housings.

Long Glass Fiber PP

High strength-to-weight ratio. Used in semi-structural automotive and industrial components.
