HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)

Rigid, strong thermoplastic with excellent chemical resistance and durability

About HDPE Plastic

HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) is one of the most widely used thermoplastics in the world, valued for its exceptional strength-to-density ratio, broad chemical resistance, and versatility across processing methods. With a density typically ranging from 0.941 to 0.965 g/cm³, HDPE's tightly packed, minimally branched molecular structure gives it a stiffer, harder, and more opaque character compared to its lower-density polyethylene counterparts.

HDPE resists a wide range of chemicals including acids, bases, alcohols, and many solvents, making it a staple in industrial, chemical handling, and food-contact applications. Its low moisture absorption and excellent impact resistance — even at sub-zero temperatures — make it suitable for demanding outdoor and cold-chain environments. HDPE is also one of the most commonly recycled plastics globally (resin code #2), supporting sustainability initiatives across industries.

HDPE is processed via blow molding, injection molding, rotational molding, and extrusion. Its relatively low processing temperature and broad processing window make it cost-effective for high-volume production. FDA-compliant and NSF-certified grades are available for food, beverage, and potable water contact applications.

HDPE Grade Types

Blow Molding Grades

High molecular weight grades with controlled melt strength for extrusion blow molding of bottles, containers, drums, and tanks. Available in FDA and non-FDA versions.

Injection Molding Grades

Higher melt flow index grades for fast-fill injection molding of crates, caps, housewares, pails, and industrial parts. Excellent stiffness and dimensional stability.

Pipe & Profile Extrusion Grades

High molecular weight, narrow molecular weight distribution grades for pressure-rated pipe, conduit, and large-diameter profile extrusions. Meets ASTM and NSF standards.

Film & Sheet Grades

Bimodal and broad MWD grades for blown film, geomembranes, and sheet extrusion. Provides high puncture resistance and tensile strength in thin gauges.

Rotational Molding Grades

Powder or micropellet grades specifically designed for rotomolding of large hollow parts such as tanks, playground equipment, and marine products.

UV-Stabilized & Color Concentrate Grades

Pre-stabilized grades with carbon black or UV additives for outdoor pipe, agricultural, and construction applications requiring long-term light stability.
