About Microthene®

Microthene® is LyondellBasell's flagship line of polyethylene powders, widely recognized as the industry standard for rotational molding applications. These finely pulverized powders offer exceptional flow and consistent particle size distribution, enabling uniform wall thickness and superior surface finish in molded parts.

Available in a broad range of densities and melt indexes, Microthene® powders are engineered to meet the demanding requirements of rotational molders. Grades span from linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) for flexible, impact-resistant parts to medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for rigid, structural applications.

Microthene® powders are also used in masterbatch production, carpet backing, coatings, and other specialty processes where fine particle size and uniform melt behavior are critical. FDA-compliant grades are available for food contact and potable water applications.

Microthene® Grade Types

LLDPE Powders

Superior impact strength and environmental stress crack resistance. Ideal for tanks, playground equipment, and large industrial containers.

MDPE Powders

Balanced stiffness and toughness. Used in kayaks, automotive ducts, and intermediate bulk containers.

HDPE Powders

High stiffness and chemical resistance. Common in small tanks, material handling bins, and industrial components.

UV Stabilized

Pre-stabilized for long-term outdoor exposure. Excellent for marine buoys, outdoor furniture, and agricultural tanks.

FDA Compliant

Approved for food contact and potable water applications. Used in food storage tanks and water treatment components.

Custom Colors

Pre-compounded colors for molded-in color parts. Eliminates post-painting and secondary finishing operations.
